Preparing Philadelphia for the November 2020 Election | City Council Legislative Oversight Committee

We were founded in Philadelphia to combat corruption and have played an important role in civil service reform, campaign finance reform, and election administration. We are a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization, and we do not endorse candidates or represent any special interests. We want better government that our citizens can trust.

In 2026, Philadelphia, the birthplace of American democracy, will mark a pivotal milestone—the 250th anniversary of the United States. Join us at our summit designed to celebrate American democracy while facilitating a necessary dialogue about strengthening it for the future. This summit will offer an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with a diverse range of leaders—policymakers, educators, activists, futurists, and engaged citizens—who will address current challenges and work toward actionable solutions for building a more inclusive democracy.

On Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 7:00 PM, the Committee of Seventy, along with WHYY News, the Philadelphia Bar Association, and other civic partners, is hosting an in-person forum between the two Democratic candidates for Philadelphia District Attorney: incumbent District Attorney Larry Krasner and former Municipal Court Judge Pat Dugan. The conversation will be moderated by Carmen Russell-Sluchansky, legal analyst and journalist, and Cherri Gregg, civil rights attorney and award-winning journalist.
