In 2026, the Committee of Seventy is excited to become the lead sponsor of the Documenters Network in Philadelphia, to help ensure that Philly residents are informed about the decisions made in public meetings across local government.
Documenters is a national program that aims to put every public meeting on the record. We'll train and dispatch residents to public meetings that traditional news outlets don’t have the capacity to cover. We're filling a gap brought on by the decline in local journalism. With more eyes on government, we can advance our shared vision of transparency, accountability, and a government that is truly worthy of the public’s trust.
We are proud to partner with City Bureau and the Temple University Klein College of Media and Communication to bring Documenters back to Philadelphia.
We are also hiring for this project! Learn more about the Documenters Program Coordinator role and get your application in by February 20.
