Become a Poll Worker

Poll Worker Resources

The Committee of Seventy has partnered with the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania and experienced poll workers to offer information and resources for individuals seeking to staff polling places on Election Day. C70 and the LWVPA also offer supplementary information sessions with a former county election director for anyone looking for a more detailed overview of working the polls.

2025 Poll Worker Information Sessions

How to Run for Elected Poll Worker:

Learn how to run for an elected poll worker position and play a key role in our democracy! This training will cover the responsibilities of precinct leaders, including Judges of Elections, Minority Inspectors, and Majority Inspectors, who are elected every four years. You'll learn the qualifications to run, how to complete and submit nomination petitions, and how to use a street list to understand and engage your precinct. Whether you're exploring the idea or ready to run, this session will provide the guidance and resources you need. Take the first step toward becoming a leader in your local election process!  We also have a helpful guide on running for election officer, available here.

Poll Worker 101:

This information session will build on the required trainings provided by Pennsylvania counties, covering the basics of working the polls in Pennsylvania and giving  additional details on important procedures. It is perfect for a first-time poll worker or experienced poll worker who wants to brush up on their knowledge.

Poll Worker Q&A:

As a poll worker, you receive comprehensive training to keep the voting process running smoothly and make sure it is easy to vote.  But you may still have questions leading up to Election Day, and that’s okay! We will hold several Q&A sessions to answer any lingering questions you may have about being a poll worker in Pennsylvania.

Poll Watcher Information Session:

Learn more about what you can (and cannot) do as a poll watcher. In addition to those considering becoming poll watchers, this session is also open to poll workers, so they can learn about the people who might be working alongside them on Election Day.

E-Poll Book Information Session:

Learn more about what to expect as a poll worker in a supplemental session on Philadelphia’s electronic poll books.

De-Escalation Techniques Information Session:

This session will focus on essential de-escalation strategies and techniques to ensure a safe and peaceful voting environment. It is perfect for a first-time poll worker or an experienced poll worker who wants to enhance their conflict resolution skills.

Note: These sessions are not official trainings from a County Board of Elections, and participants are not compensated for their attendance. If you are selected to be a poll worker, you will still need to attend a training from your local Board of Elections.
