Open Primaries PA hosting Virtual Advocacy Day to Secure Voting Rights for All Pennsylvanians Ahead of Primary Elections

The Committee of Seventy, Pennsylvania’s leading nonpartisan advocate for better government and stronger democracy, launched its Interactive Voter Guide for the upcoming November 5th election. The Interactive Voter Guide is a digital resource designed to help voters make informed decisions when casting their ballot. Users can enter their address to view a personalized, downloadable, sharable ballot and learn about candidates and their positions, as well as ballot measures specific to their location.

Earlier this month, representatives from the Committee of Seventy traveled to Chicago, Ill for the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Democracy Summit during the ABA’s Annual Meeting. During the summit, the ABA’s Task Force for American Democracy presented the 2024 Unsung Heroes of Democracy Award to the Committee of Seventy and 21 other organizations and individuals.

New coalition, editorial boards and legislative leadership call for reform

On May 14, 2025, the Committee of Seventy welcomed more than 300 guests for its fourth annual Women in Public Leadership event, which celebrates the contributions of women leading at all levels. This year’s theme, The Power of Mentorship: Celebrating Women Who Carry as They Climb, highlighted the important role mentorship plays in shaping strong civic and public leaders.

The Committee of Seventy is launching a series of information sessions for Pennsylvanians to learn how to run for the elected poll worker positions that will be on the ballot during the primary election on May 20th. These sessions, held from February 10–14, will guide participants through the qualifications to run, how to complete and submit nomination petitions, and how to use a street list to understand and engage their community in the process.
