Vote That Jawn

C70 has partnered with Vote That Jawn, which uses the power of youth voice and connection to bring 18-year-olds and other first-time voters to the polls and begin a process toward full civic engagement. Now, Vote That Jawn has partnered with the Committee of Seventy to make sure that young people are fully engaged in the 2024 election.

Why Donate to Vote That Jawn?

This fall, as the eyes of the political world look to Philadelphia, Vote That Jawn has an opportunity to mobilize a group of potential voters that are continually disregarded by campaigns and pundits. In 2020, while the national electorate turned out to vote at around 67%, CIRCLE estimated that voters 18-29 only voted at 50%. (Notably, this was an 11-point increase from 2016.) A number of advocates are determined to improve this number in 2024, and Vote That Jawn is well-positioned to meet young people where they are to make sure they vote.

Jawn’s college-level digital media interns are crucial to producing attractive responses to hurdle each new voting challenge. Previous efforts include promoting shareable content to educate Pennsylvania students about applying for a mail-in ballot, leading social media trainings for School District of Philadelphia seniors, and a major event at Philadelphia City Hall to #TrendThatJawn before the 2022 election.

In 2024, digital media interns will develop content to support students from and attending college in Pennsylvania will have all of the info they need to vote. Jawn is planning a press conference for student media in partnership with local and statewide outlets and elected officials. Scheduled for October 16th, journalists young and seasoned will talk about issues that young people care about through the lens of the upcoming election.

Your support will staff the full intern team, our part-time communications specialist, and all materials and promotional activities for the fall.
