The Committee of Seventy is launching a series of information sessions for Pennsylvanians to learn how to run for the elected poll worker positions that will be on the ballot during the primary election on May 20th. These sessions, held from February 10–14, will guide participants through the qualifications to run, how to complete and submit nomination petitions, and how to use a street list to understand and engage their community in the process.

Join us on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at 5:30pm for the second webinar in our city budget learning series. This session will explore Mayor Parker’s Fiscal Year 2026 budget proposal, breaking down investments aimed at her priorities of making Philadelphia the safest, cleanest, and greenest big city, with economic opportunity for all.

The public will have to wait for a final outcome in Councilmember Kenyatta Johnson's trial. In the meantime, there is work to be done to bolster Philadelphians’ trust in City Hall.

Committee of Seventy Denounces President's Attack on Democracy, Calls to Finish the Count

Philadelphia, PA (April 1, 2019) --- The Committee of Seventy (C70) announced today that it has negotiated rights to acquire the "Coffee Can of Destiny" (CCoD) from the Office of the Philadelphia City Commissioners and plans to donate it to a new Philadelphia Coffee Museum to be built on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

On September 7th, Acting Secretary of the Commonwealth Leigh Chapman will brief PA's business community on her department's efforts for November 2022, and how we can maximize the engagement of employees, customers, and community members in the next election. Learn about the steps state and county officials are taking to account for the large number of expected mail-in ballots, report the results in a timely manner, and make sure the security systems are in place to guarantee that every valid ballot is counted. The goal, as Ms. Chapman will explain, is to administer the election in a way so that the results are widely trusted.

Governor-elect Josh Shapiro announced his intent to appoint Al Schmidt, President and CEO of the Committee of Seventy, as Secretary of the Commonwealth.
