We mourn the loss of Renee Good, who was fatally shot this week by ICE agents in Minnesota. The Committee of Seventy condemns all forms of political violence, whether committed by governments or individuals.

This workshop will be of use to any leader who wants to engage more deeply and usefully with either internal or external stakeholders.

PHILADELPHIA- Four civic leadership organizations committed to fair elections and good governance filed requests for information about City Commissioner Anthony Clark on Tuesday.

PA Civics, a statewide network formed in 2019 to strengthen and expand civic education in Pennsylvania, officially welcomed the News Literacy Project and Carpenters’ Hall as the 24th and 25th members of the coalition during its quarterly meeting on July 10. The News Literacy Project, the nation’s largest provider of news literacy education, and Carpenters’ Hall, the site of the First Continental Congress in 1774, join a growing list of partners that includes the Association of Former Members of Congress, the National Constitution Center, the Heinz History Center, the Pennsylvania Chamber of Commerce and The Committee of Seventy.

The Committee of Seventy is launching a series of information sessions for Pennsylvanians to learn how to run for the elected poll worker positions that will be on the ballot during the primary election on May 20th. These sessions, held from February 10–14, will guide participants through the qualifications to run, how to complete and submit nomination petitions, and how to use a street list to understand and engage their community in the process.

Join us on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at 5:30pm for the second webinar in our city budget learning series. This session will explore Mayor Parker’s Fiscal Year 2026 budget proposal, breaking down investments aimed at her priorities of making Philadelphia the safest, cleanest, and greenest big city, with economic opportunity for all.

In this Commonwealth and in every state across the country, counted votes are legal votes, and every vote must be counted. Our votes have been cast. Now we are completing their count, and we must defend the integrity of that process. We must defend our democracy.
