COMMITTEE OF SEVENTY PREPARES FOR ELECTION DAY

PHILADELPHIA, PA – With polls opening Tuesday, November 6, the Committee of Seventy’s nonpartisan Voter Guide and Election Programs are ready to engage voters and improve the voting experience in the Philadelphia area. This year, Seventy is excited to include its WeVote app in the resources voters can leverage to make informed decisions at the polls.

Seventy’s 2018 Election Program includes a number of resources and initiatives:

  • WeVote: The WeVote app, a digital ballot tool created in partnership with MilkCrate, combines our digital ballot tool, voter guide, voting reminders, event opportunities, and more all easily accessible from a voter’s phone. Users are encouraged to form teams and learn, act, and share within the app to build a culture of voting. WeVote is available in the app store for iOS and in Google Play for Android users. Voters can learn more at: seventy.org/WeVote

  • Digital Ballot Tool: Back for its fourth election cycle, the digital ballot tool allows voters to compile their candidate choices and ballot questions before heading to the polls. This resource is powered by CivicEngine and a product of BallotReady, a Chicago-based organization that helps organizations inform voters about their ballot and create a plan to vote every election. The tool can be accessed directly at committeeof70.civicengine.com

  • November 2018 Voter Guide: Seventy’s nonpartisan November 6, 2018 Voter Guide provides voters with descriptions of offices on the ballot, candidate bios, explanations of ballot questions, and other voter resources. Voter Guides are available for voters in Bucks County, Chester County, Delaware County, Montgomery County, and Philadelphia County. Voters can find out more here: seventy.org/publications/elections-voting/nov-6-2018-general

  • Election Ambassadors: More than 200 high school Election Ambassadors will be stationed outside polling places around Philadelphia to help answer voters’ questions about voting procedures and to administer a survey on election reforms. The Election Ambassadors program prepares the next generation for active civic and political participation.

  • Voter Rights and Responsibilities: Seventy encourages voters to review their rights and responsibilities before heading to the polls on Tuesday. Voters can print a copy from Seventy’s website in English, Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Khmer, Korean, Spanish, and Vietnamese at: seventy.org/publications/elections-voting/voter-rights-and-responsibilities4.

Questions or problems encountered during the voting process should be directed to the  Philadelphia County Board of Elections at 215-686-1590.

Seventy’s staff will also be available throughout the day to help answer voters’ questions about the voting process and any component of the November 2018 Election Program.
