The Committee of Seventy’s 2nd Annual Women in Public Leadership event took place on June 6, 2023 and featured The Constitution Center’s Dr. Kerry Sautner moderating a conversation between Errin Haines, Editor-At-Large and Founder of the 19th*, Lisa Hughes, first female publisher and CEO of the Philadelphia Inquirer, and Sarah Glover, Vice President of News and Civic Dialogue at WHYY. These remarkable women discussed the role of the media in promoting democracy, career paths for women in journalism, and the importance of trust and local media in times of hyperpolarized national politics.
C70 also honored Urban Affairs Coalition CEO Sharmain Matlock-Turner with the Civic Leadership Award for her contributions to C70, Philadelphia, and Pennsylvania.
