Office Description: The Superior Court is one of two statewide intermediate appellate courts, meaning criminal and civil cases heard in lower courts (Court of Common Pleas) can be heard again in the Superior Court on appeal. The Court also hears appeals on matters involving children and families. Cases that reach the 15-member court are usually heard by panels of three judges.
In the May 2025 primary election, Pennsylvania voters registered with either the Democratic or Republican parties will choose their party's nominees for the November general election to fill a vacant seat on the Superior Court. Those candidates are listed below.
Separately, in January 2026, the 10-year term of one incumbent judge will expire. That judge, Alice Beck Dubow, is up for a retention election in November 2025. Voters may vote YES to keep the candidate in office or vote NO to remove them from office. This position will not be on the ballot during the May primary.
