Independent of the Mayor and City Council, the City Controller conducts independent audits and analyses that provide objective information to city officials, the public, and other interested parties about the city’s financial operations, and on ways to improve city operations and the use of public resources. Per city records, the Controller's salary is $147,000.
A primary and general election are taking place in 2023 to fill the remaining two years of the term Rebecca Rhynhart was elected to fill in 2021. Ms. Rhynhart is now running for mayor.
The following candidates have either publicly declared or media reports have indicated they will be running to serve as Philadelphia's City Controller. This list will not be exhaustive until after the candidate nominating petition period is complete in late March.
