Frankie Garland is Deputy General Counsel for the Philadelphia Phillies. In his role, Frankie is involved in a wide range of legal matters, including corporate partnerships, labor and employment, litigation, and government relations. Prior to joining the Phillies in 2021, Frankie spent five seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates. As the Pirates’ Head Legal Counsel, Frankie oversaw all legal matters for the club, including the negotiation of TV rights and stadium naming rights agreements, and management of the Pirates’ real estate development next to PNC Park. Before joining the Pirates, Frankie was an associate in the Labor and Employment practice group at Morgan Lewis in Philadelphia. During law school, Frankie interned with the San Francisco Giants’ baseball operations department and Major League Baseball’s labor relations department in New York. Frankie is a graduate of UC Berkeley School of Law and earned undergraduate degrees in African American Studies and Political Science from UC Berkeley. Frankie lives in Delaware County with his wife and kids.
