Ala'a Quniebi

Civic Action Support Specialist, The Welcoming Center

My name is Ala’a Quniebi, originally from Jordan. I moved to Philadelphia two years ago. I am a Civic Action Support Specialist in The Welcoming Center’s ILI program. I work to support and empower local immigrant communities by encouraging civic engagement and equity. I have deep experience in helping immigrant and refugee communities, having worked with NGOs in my home country, such as Save the Children and Action Against Hunger, supporting Syrian refugees. I am trilingual, speaking Arabic, English, and Spanish. I majored in English and Spanish and continually strive to learn, grow, and improve.

I am honored to have been selected as a Buchholz Fellow and hope to use this experience to further my understanding of how organizations and governments can come together to better benefit the local community.
