Committee of Seventy, Rep. Jared Solomon, the Northeast Times and the League of Women Voters-Philadelphia hosted a legislative summit on the topic of election reform featuring experts on some of the most pressing issues facing our democracy.
The event began with 10-15 minute presentations on the following topics:
- Redistricting (Carol Kuniholm, Fair Districts PA)
- Open Primaries (Dr. Jessie Fields, Open Primaries)
- Election Security and Integrity (Kathy Boockvar, PA Dept. of State)
- Absentee Ballots, Early Voting and Voter Registration (Micah Sims, Common Cause PA)
Attendees also heard from Kevin Greenberg of Greenberg Traurig LLP, on election law. After the presentations, attendees broke up into groups based on the ideas that most interested them for a facilitated conversation with our engagement experts from the Penn Project for Civic Engagement and summarized their small group discussions to the larger group at the end of the event.
