The Committee of Seventy was established in 1904 to combat corruption in Philadelphia, playing a major role in the adoption of civil service reforms and the passage of the 1919 and 1951 Home Rule Charters. A nonprofit and nonpartisan organization, Seventy does not endorse candidates or represent any special interests.

NON-PARTISAN VOLUNTEERS READY TO HELP VOTERS ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4

WHAT: The Committee of Seventy has recruited and trained 150 non-partisan volunteers to help Pennsylvania voters on November 4, 2014. Earlier this month, representatives from the Committee of Seventy traveled to Chicago, Ill for the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Democracy Summit during the ABA’s Annual Meeting. During the summit, the ABA’s Task Force for American Democracy presented the 2024 Unsung Heroes of Democracy Award to the Committee of Seventy and 21 other organizations and individuals.

The Committee of Seventy Launches Information Sessions on Running for Elected Poll Worker Positions

The Committee of Seventy is launching a series of information sessions for Pennsylvanians to learn how to run for the elected poll worker positions that will be on the ballot during the primary election on May 20th. These sessions, held from February 10–14, will guide participants through the qualifications to run, how to complete and submit nomination petitions, and how to use a street list to understand and engage their community in the process.

Committee of Seventy and OnePhillyConnect to Host Pop-Up Events to Boost Voter Engagement Before Mail-in Ballot Deadline

The Committee of Seventy and OnePhillyConnect are hosting several pop-up events at Philadelphia Satellite Election Offices (SEOs) to increase voter engagement ahead of the 5pm October 29th deadline to request mail-in ballots. These events will include live music performances, food, giveaways, and voter information hubs, aiming to increase awareness of the SEOs among the neighboring community and encourage voter participation.
