Philadelphia, PA – The Committee of Seventy and OnePhillyConnect are hosting several pop-up events at Philadelphia Satellite Election Offices (SEOs) to increase voter engagement ahead of the 5pm October 29th deadline to request mail-in ballots. These events will include live music performances, food, giveaways, and voter information hubs, aiming to increase awareness of the SEOs among the neighboring community and encourage voter participation.

SEOs, launched this year by the Office of the City Commissioners, are located in each Councilmanic District. At each location, registered voters can apply for a mail-in or absentee ballot, complete their ballot and return it immediately. Voters can also obtain replacement ballots, declaration envelopes, and secrecy envelopes, as well as request an emergency absentee ballot. Most importantly, if voters have any questions about voting or elections, City Commissioners Office staff is available to answer those questions.

“The City Commissioners’ Satellite Election Offices bring people closer to their government and make the voting process more accessible,” said Lauren Cristella, President and CEO of the Committee of Seventy. “In hosting these events at these locations, we hope to foster a sense of community and excitement around voting—ensuring that every voter feels prepared and empowered to cast their ballot. The joy of participating in our democracy should be celebrated, and we’re here to help make that happen.”

To further raise awareness of these vital services leading up to October 29th, the Committee of Seventy will host musical events at select SEO locations. At these events, West Powelton Steppers and Drum Squad will perform in front of the SEO and while marching through the surrounding neighborhood in an effort to raise awareness of the SEO. The events will have food, swag giveaways, and essential voter resources provided by the Committee of Seventy. Details for each pop up event are as follows.

  • Thursday, October 24th, 4:00pm - 6:00pm: 3rd Council District SEO, 4029 Market Street

  • Friday, October 25th, 4:00pm - 6:00pm: 1st Council District SEO, 1835 S Broad Street

  • Monday, October 28th, 4:00pm - 6:00pm: 5th Council District SEO, 2301 N Broad Street

“These events are not just about providing information; they’re about creating a festive atmosphere that highlights the importance of participating in our democracy. We want voters to walk away feeling informed and excited about making their voices heard,” added Cristella.

All Satellite Election Offices are open Monday through Friday, 10:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday through Sun 10:00am to 4:00pm. All services are also available at the Board of Elections Office at City Hall, which is open Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday through Sunday 10:00am to 4:00pm.
