A nonprofit and nonpartisan organization, Seventy does not endorse candidates or represent any special interests.

Philadelphia, PA – The Committee of Seventy released the following statement in response to the Nomination of Emil V. Bove to the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

“The system of checks and balances is a foundational concept to American democracy and we should expect that those being considered for a lifetime appointment to a federal court understand and respect the rule of law. The allegations against Emil V. Bove are troubling and must be fully vetted by Congress.

Judges must be chosen for their qualifications and commitment to the rule of law, not political loyalty.”
