Philadelphia, PA - President and CEO of the Committee of Seventy, Lauren Cristella, released the following statement regarding the September 13, 2024 PA Supreme Court Decision on Mail-In Ballot Envelope Dating:

“We are disappointed to learn that the Supreme Court has voided the Commonwealth Court's decision holding that ballots cannot be thrown out due to a missing date or having the wrong date. The Supreme Court decision was based on jurisdiction rather than the merits of the case and we continue to believe this requirement, which serves no function, should not disenfranchise voters.”
