President of the United States

The President of the United States is both the head of state and of government, in addition to commander-in-chief of the armed forces. With powers enumerated in Article II of the Constitution, the president leads the executive branch of the federal government, responsible for executing and enforcing the laws created by Congress, conducting foriegn policy, and making a wide range of federal, regulatory, diplomatic and judicial appointments, including to the U.S. Supreme Court. The president can serve no more than two four-year terms and has an annual salary of $400,000.

Note: Until the general election ballot is finalized, we are only including candidates from the two major parties. The state's nominating paper period for independent and minor party candidates will be complete on August 1st. After that time, qualified candidates will be included in C70's voter guide as well.
