City Hall Roll Call: October 7, 2021

Competing "Streeteries" legislation introduced

A roll of "I voted" stickers

Session Recap:

Today’s Council session was a quick one, with very few bills and resolutions being introduced by the members. Last week, Councilmember Domb introduced bills to make permanent the city’s new pandemic-inspired outdoor dining scene. Council President Clarke had circulated a memo prior to the bills’ introduction, pushing back on the delegation of authority to the city’s various departments. Today, Council President Clarke cemented his opposition to those bills and offered an alternative proposal, sponsoring two bills that appear to extend the period through which streeteries may operate, without making them permanent.

Council did not take its final vote on Councilmember Thomas’ Driving Equity bills. Rather, one of the bills was amended to fix some technical errors in numbering. The package will once again be eligible for a vote next week.
