Seventy Supports Wolf Administration Financing of New Voting Systems
HARRISBURG, PA – The Committee of Seventy applauds the Wolf administration’s order to issue a bond to cover the long-term investment in safe, secure voting systems. Counties around the state have taken responsible steps over the past year to procure new voting machines with voter-verified paper trails. Such equipment is essential to protect the integrity of our elections, and our local governments deserve this financial support for doing their part.

State of Young Philly - Create Change by Voting
C70 is partnering with Young Involved Philadelphia to celebrate their annual State of Young Philly week of events. We'll be hosting a zoom discussion with an esteemed panel, including Sister Taleah of the City of Dreams Coalition, Scott Seeborg from All Voting is Local, and Brittany Smalls from C70. Morgan Robinson, president of YIP, will moderate a discussion about how attendees can feel empowered and understand that their vote has the ability to create change. We'll touch on issues of accessibility, overcoming threats to election integrity, and other ways people can participate beyond the ballot box.

Committee of Seventy Launches Poll Worker and Poll Watcher Information Sessions
For the fourth consecutive year, the Committee of Seventy, in partnership with the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania, launched its poll worker and poll watcher virtual information sessions in advance of the April 23, 2024 primary election. Between March 1st and April 22nd, Seventy and the LWVPA will host nearly 30 sessions designed for both new and experienced poll workers and poll watchers.

Seventy Urges Probe by Independent Counsel of Sting Operation and Dismissal
PHILADELPHIA – March 17, 2014 –The Committee of Seventy today urged the Pennsylvania General Assembly to quickly allow for the creation of an independent counsel to conduct a fair and non-partisan investigation into a dismissed three-year sting operation that allegedly captured on tape four state Representatives taking money from an undercover informant. The operation, which also involved a former Philadelphia Traffic Court judge accepting a bracelet, was reported by The Philadelphia Inquirer yesterday.

Committee of Seventy Awarded $900,000 in Grant Funding
The Committee of Seventy announced that it has been awarded major grants totaling $900,000 to support its work to strengthen democracy, elections and civic education in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania. This includes an $800,000 grant from William Penn Foundation, matching their previous investment from 2022—the largest grant Seventy ever received in its history. Seventy will also receive $80,000 from the Agua Fund, and $20,000 from CivXNow, a project of iCivics.
