During these busy and challenging times, the best messenger for opportunities to strengthen our democracy is US! We are the best messengers for our friends and family. We all know Pennsylvanians who could be great poll workers. At an LWV virtual outreach event, you will reach out to people you know and invite them to become poll workers.

The Committee of Seventy and the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania are helping to prepare poll workers for election day through a Poll Worker 101 training session.

WHAT: The Committee of Seventy has recruited and trained 150 non-partisan volunteers to help Pennsylvania voters on November 4, 2014. Representatives of the media are urged to remind Philadelphians with questions about voting, or who experience problems at the polls, to call Seventy’s NEW dedicated elections hotline at 1-855-SEVENTY (1-855-738-3689).

On November 8, 2021, there was a Community Input Meeting held on City Council redistricting for the general area of Logan and Olney, facilitated by staff from Millennials in Action and the Committee of Seventy.

On Monday, April 15, 2024 at 7:00pm, the Committee of Seventy, along with Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts, the Forum of Executive Women, League of Women Voters of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Bar Association, and Philadelphia Bar Association, is hosting a bipartisan virtual forum for Pennsylvania attorney general candidates.

This exercise fits well near the launch of a Can We Talk? unit or initiative. It's a good way for students to get to know each other better while practicing the skills of active listening. It's also a relatively low-stress way for students to begin experiencing dialogue. Also, if you plan on using the lesson plan that digs into active listening, more explicitly teaches the skills and habits involved, this exercise is good preparation for that.

Students from eight schools participated in the “Give Us a Ballot” march and completed their mail-in ballots as part of a national celebration.

To help students grasp the shape and dimensions of the bubbles inside which they live, and to identify strategies for venturing outside those bubbles to experience and learn.
