What is one life experience you have that voters should know about?
Standing at the podium addressing the House is unlike anything else I have experienced. Not only does a person feel the unique significance of being one of the select few chosen by their districts to come to Harrisburg and speak on the issues of the day, but one also feels the sheer grandeur of the Capitol, in all of its beauty and history. Even as a member of House leadership it is not lost on me that our Capitol is meant to inspire legislators to help our citizens, state and nation to reach new heights.
What sets you apart from other candidates?
I take public service as a responsibility. As a child of immigrant parents my family has always emphasized the importance of giving back to our country. Whether serving in AmeriCorps NCCC or as a volunteer firefighter, I believe helping others is more important than any title.
How do you plan to work across ideological lines to achieve shared goals?
I have worked on numerous bills, resolutions and legislative events with members from across ideological lines and will continue to do so. Finding ways to have conversations with other members off the floor has always been helpful in finding common ground.
What would be your top three policy priorities in office?
In no particular order, I have spent my time in the legislature on three main areas: 1) disability and mental health access and inclusion, 2) expanding opportunities for Pennsylvania workers, and 3) making sure our criminal justice system lives up to the ideals of our nation.
