What is one life experience you have that voters should know about?
After my parents split I watched day in and day out as my mother did everything that she could to keep us fed, clothes on our back and a roof over our head. She led by example that hard work could lead you to a better life and that you need to roll up your sleeves to get things done. She is an inspiration to me and my siblings.
What sets you apart from other candidates?

He has a proven track record of effective leadership and advocacy for his constituents over his 40 plus years as an elected official. Congressman Evans is deeply committed to improving the lives of the people in his district and has worked tirelessly to address issues such as poverty, education, healthcare, and economic development. He is known for being accessible to his constituents and responsive to their needs. Overall, Congressman Dwight Evans stands out as a dedicated and effective leader who puts the needs of his constituents first and works tirelessly to make a positive difference in their lives.
How do you plan to work across ideological lines to achieve shared goals?
I believe that I come from the governing wing of the Democratic party. That means getting things done for the constituents I represent and I have a proven track record. Whether it was working with a Republican State Senator to secure funding for the nation's first state run CHIP program to the private/public funding program Fresh Food Financing Initiative that builds grocery stores in food deserts passed with bipartisan support in Harrisburg. I continue to reach across the aisle to find common ground and build from there. My Victims Act legislation has both Democratic and Republican support in the House and Senate. It certainly isn't easy in Washington, but I keep at it every day.
What would be your top three policy priorities in office?
Passing gun control measures that restricts the sale of assault style weapons and their ammunition. Enacting policies that bring more federal dollars to Philadelphia to build affordable housing and changing tax policy to make it more attractive as well. Creating more economic opportunities that translates into good paying and family sustaining jobs for Philadelphians.
The Committee of Seventy has partnered with the Carter Center to promote the Candidate Principles for Trusted Elections (www.principledcandidates.org) to improve the voting process, encourage honest leadership, and promote civic engagement. Do you support the Candidate Principles?
Yes.
