Custom Post Types and Blocks

Some of the content on this site uses custom post types instead of the standard Page or Post. Custom post types exist because this content has needs a standard Page can’t cleanly handle: structured, repeatable fields (a date, a location, a person’s title), specific tagging, and page layouts that update automatically as those fields change, rather than being hand-built block by block.

Each custom post type has its own field group(s) and taxonomies, and its own set of purpose-built blocks — grouped in the Block Inserter under a matching “Seventy ___” category (Seventy Events, Seventy People, and so on). These blocks aren’t general-purpose design tools; they’re utilities that pull information straight from a post’s fields and tags and display it automatically, so editors rarely need to touch them directly.
