Elections & Voting Curriculum

Students start with a discussion of historic voting rights and disenfranchisement policies and evaluate them in a timeline activity. Students learn about the role of political parties, take a quiz to identify which parties are closest to their beliefs, and eligible students will have the opportunity to register to vote online during class time.

Students will learn how to evaluate media sources for credibility. They will learn about the different ways to cast a ballot, either by mail or in-person. Finally, students will research the candidates and ballot questions in the upcoming election and make their own choices as part of our statewide Mock Election or by casting their own ballot in the next election.
