Lunch & Learn: Understanding Judicial Retention with Debbie Gross

What does it mean when a judge is “up for retention”? Why are these elections so important—and so often overlooked?

Join the Committee of Seventy for a virtual conversation with Debbie Gross, President and CEO of Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts, to get answers to these questions and more. With three Pennsylvania Supreme Court justices on the ballot this November, this session will help demystify the retention process and explain how voters can make informed decisions.

In this 45-minute Q&A, C70’s Tanisha Bezue will talk with Debbie about the structure of Pennsylvania’s judicial system, the standards that guide judicial retention, and why judicial independence matters. There will be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions as well.

Come learn about these elections and then join us for Behind the Ballot: PA Supreme Court Retention Elections on September 8 to hear directly from the PA Supreme Court Justices up for retention.

Free to attend. Register here to join us virtually.
