Women in Public Leadership 2026

Igniting and Enduring: Trailblazers who Spark, Advance, and Protect Women’s Rights

Join us for a morning of powerful conversation at the Committee of Seventy’s 5th annual Women in Public Leadership event, bringing together some of the region’s most dynamic voices on the front lines of women’s rights.

This year’s panel will explore women’s leadership as activists, advocates, and guardians across the legal profession, examining how trailblazers spark change, advance progress, and protect the rights that define our democracy, from the courtroom to every corner of the law.

Tamala Edwards, 6abc Action News Anchor, will moderate the discussion between our distinguished panelists — Jacqueline C. Romero, Partner and Litigation Leader, BakerHostetler, Philadelphia, Jude Husein, Chief of Staff – Pennsylvania State Senate, the Honorable Kelley Brisbon Hodge, United States District Court Judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and Melissa Murray, Frederick I. and Grace Stokes Professor of Law, Faculty Director, Birnbaum Women’s Leadership Center, and NYT Bestselling Author — who will share their personal and professional journeys fighting for and safeguarding women’s rights at every level of the legal landscape.

We are also proud to present this year’s Civic Leadership Award to Kathryn Kolbert — a Philadelphia-rooted public interest attorney whose career has left an indelible mark on the fight for women’s rights in America. Kathryn’s life’s work is a testament to what it means to ignite change, and to ensure it endures.
