Chester County Voter Services has reported that the poll books at all precincts currently do not include the names of voters who are registered with third parties (e.g., Independent, Libertarian, Green) or with no party affiliation. The county is in the process of delivering supplemental poll books to every polling location.

The failure to include these voters in today’s poll books is unacceptable and likely to cause disruption at polling places. All affected voters will still be able to cast a provisional ballot, and those ballots should be counted once eligibility is confirmed.

We understand that Chester County officials are working quickly to correct the error. In the meantime, voters who cast a provisional ballot are strongly encouraged to track its status at pavoterservices.pa.gov.

This incident underscores the urgent need to modernize Pennsylvania’s election code and standardize the use of electronic poll books statewide.
