Bucks County’s 18th District encompasses Bensalem Township.
A special election will take place on March 17, 2020 for the 18th District PA House seat, which encompasses Bensalem Township. The seat was left vacant when Rep. Gene DiGirolamo resigned after being elected to the Bucks County Board of Commissioners in November 2019. The winner will serve the remainder of Rep. DiGirolamo’s term, which expires at the end of 2020. Both candidates may also run in the April 28 primary for the 2021-22 term, as can other potential candidates.
The Bucks County Democratic and Republican Committees selected their parties’ candidates for this special election.
Any registered voter in House District 18, regardless of party affiliation, is eligible to vote in this election.
The deadline to request an absentee ballot for this special election is Tuesday, March 10, and all absentee ballots must be returned to the Bucks County Board of Elections (55 E. Court St., Doylestown, PA 18901) by 5 pm on Friday, March 13. (Pennsylvania’s 2019 voting-reform law, which loosens mail-in-vote deadlines and procedures, doesn’t go into effect until the April 28 primary.)
