What is one life experience you have that voters should know about?
I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer when I was 33 years old. Going through treatment was one of the most difficult experiences of my life, but it also taught me so much about myself, and made me a stronger person.
What sets you apart from other candidates?
I have been a practicing Physician Assistant for the last 21 years. I have had a unique window into the lives of every day people, their struggles and their worries. To work in the medical field takes a very compassionate person. It is also a field with high levels of responsibility, and requires the ability to assess and solve very complex problems.
How do you plan to work across ideological lines to achieve shared goals?
By fostering a climate of mutual respect, open dialogue, and a shared commitment to the greater good. Rather than focusing on differences, we should prioritize finding common ground and building on areas of agreement in order to achieve meaningful progress.
What would be your top three policy priorities in office?
Lowering healthcare costs, increasing state funding for public education, protecting reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy.
The Committee of Seventy has partnered with the Carter Center to promote the Candidate Principles for Trusted Elections (www.principledcandidates.org) to improve the voting process, encourage honest leadership, and promote civic engagement. Do you support the Candidate Principles?
Yes.
