What is one life experience you have that voters should know about?

I’m a mom to three adult sons, one of whom has been in long term recovery for substance use disorder for the last twelve years. My family’s firsthand experience with addiction and recovery has informed my work – and it has underscored the need to treat those struggling, no matter the issue, with respect, dignity, and compassion.

What sets you apart from other candidates?

Since being elected in 2018, I've had the solemn honor and responsibility of serving in certain roles that require a serious approach to legislating – particularly on the House Judiciary and Foreign Affairs Committees, as an impeachment manager in former President Trump's second impeachment trial, and recently, as a member of the Bipartisan Task Force to Investigate the Attempted Assassination. These roles require a focused-on-the-facts, solutions-oriented approach to serving, and that’s how I always approach my work in both Pennsylvania and DC. Serving my neighbors and communities in Congress is a sincere privilege – and one that I do not take lightly, regardless of the issue.

How do you plan to work across ideological lines to achieve shared goals?

Again, as legislators, it is important that we approach our work in a serious, solutions-oriented way. I always strive to be as bipartisan as possible and to find common ground on issues important to hardworking Pennsylvanians, and that’s partially why I’ve had the opportunity to serve in some important roles during my time in Congress – such as Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Women’s Caucus in the 117th Congress. Additionally, it’s been a privilege to vote for and pass legislation such as Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act – meaningful laws that address the quality of our roads, bridges, and more, and gun violence prevention, respectively.

What would be your top three policy priorities in office?

With the amount of important issues, challenges, and opportunities before us, it is impossible to choose just three top policy priorities. Having said that, one that I’m particularly mindful of is the preservation of our democracy from those who wish to undermine it. If we don’t get this one right, achieving other goals will become increasingly difficult. Additionally, because we’ve seen that rolling back women’s rights is a top priority for extremist Republicans, we must codify Roe.
