Carlyn Crawley is the Executive Director of Government Affairs & Strategy for the Greater Philadelphia YMCA (GPY). In this capacity, Carlyn serves as the primary strategist for the Office of Government and Community Affairs, developing stakeholder engagement plans and advocating for GPY’s legislative interest. Additionally, she leads the portfolio of teen-focused Social Responsibility initiatives. This portfolio includes college readiness, career readiness, gun violence prevention, digital access, and civic engagement programs.
Prior to coming to GPY, she was a management consultant for various federal clients including the IRS and Air Force Civil Engineer. She was also a Program Manager at the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts where she managed large scale process improvement & change management projects.
In 2021, Carlyn began pursuing an MPA at the Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania which brought her and her dog Kingsley to West Philadelphia from Washington, DC. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Hampton University. In addition to work and school, she is a board member for Good Call NYC, a social justice organization that provides free legal support to residents who have been recently arrested.
